About the Establishment
The State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability is a state administration establishment under the Ministry of Welfare, which performs disability expertise in the Republic of Latvia.
Main task of disability expertise is to evaluate limitation level of person’s physical or psychical abilities individually, and their possibility to integrate into the society.
The ground for disability’s expertise is an application submitted by person, who will be evaluated or by his guardian, and family/attending doctor’s issued Appointment card to the State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability (Form 088/u).
Disability expertise is performed in 18 departments of the establishment, which service clients both by the principle of region, and illness.
Order in which the disability expertise should be performed starting from January 1, 2004 is stated in Regulations No.650 on “Procedures for the Disability Expert Examination at the State Commission of Physicians for Health and Work Capacity Examination” issued by the Cabinet of Ministers on 19.11.2003.
