Amendments to the Ukrainian civilian support Law have come into force in the on 30 November 2023, which stipulates that an official of the State Commission for medical examinations of Health and Working ability (hereinafter - Commission), upon receipt of an application from a Ukrainian civilian for whom the term of the specified disability is 4 March 2024 or his or her legal representative, has the right to extend the disability status specified in accordance with Section 7.2, Paragraph one of this Law and the related opinions for a time period until 4 March 2025, if the term of a long-stay visa or residence permit for a Ukrainian civilian has been extended until 4 March 2025. .
It should be noted that, according to the above, the amendments apply only to Ukrainian civilians who meet two conditions at the same time:
- the period of invalidity for persons shall be 4 March 2024; and
- the person has the right to reside in Latvia until 4 March 2025.
Those persons must therefore submit a submission to the Commission by 4 March 2024. A “referral to the State medical Commission for Health and Working ability Expert-examination” prepared by a doctor shall not be appended to the submission.
On the other hand, applications of persons whose specified disability expired before or after 4 March 2024 will be examined in general order, submitting an application to the Commission together with a “referral to the State medical Commission for Health and Working ability Expert-examination” prepared by the treating physician.
At the same time, we inform that I can submit documents and documents in paper form:
- personally in any regional unit of the VDECC throughout Latvia;
- mailing to any regional unit of the VDECC.
